SyMoCADS representation at IEEE International Conference on Communications, 9–13 June 2024 // Denver, CO, USA
The IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), which took place in Denver, USA from June 9 to 13, was a full success for SyMoCADS.
During the Communications Magazine Interactive Session (Monday, June 9), our associates – Maike Scherer and Lukas Brand – presented their poster entitled “Switchable Signaling Molecules for Media Modulation: Fundamentals, Applications, and Research Directions”, which was very well received. On Wednesday (June 12.) the duo gave an exciting presentation of their conference paper: “Closed Loop Molecular Communication Testbed: Setup, Interference Analysis, and Experimental Results”. Furthermore, our speaker Prof. Robert Schober was invited to participate in an Industry Panel on molecular and nano communication, which was moderated by Sasitharan Balasubramaniam, Associate Professor, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA, who is also a Mercator Fellow in SyMoCADS, and entitled: “Nanonetworking: Quo Vadis?”. Last but most importantly, Lukas Brand won the 1st Prize in the IEEE Communications Society’s Four-Minute-Thesis (4MT) Competition!
The 4MT Competition challenged PhD students to explain their research topic in just 4 minutes to a broad, non-expert audience. In the preliminary round of the competition, contestants described their research in four-minute video presentations. The top 15 contestants from the preliminary round were invited to the final round, which took place on June 10 at ICC 2024. The competition was fierce and judging was based on the comprehension, content and engagement of the presentation. Congratulations Lukas, we are very proud of you!
